Dear Professor Argabright:
I have not been active in the field of programming languages for some years,
and therefore, I am not familiar with Professor Karel Culik's current work. In
particular, I have seen nothing that he has done since he came to the United
States.
On the basis of previous contact with Professor Culik, however, I can say
that he is enthusiastic, cooperative, and should be a real pleasure to have
as a colleague in a computer science department.
Before he lost his job in Czechoslovakia as a consequence of his human rights
activities, Professor Culik was the leading computer scientist in Czechoslovakia and their
usual representative in international computer science activities.
